State Fire Marshal Announces Brian Taylor as Assistant Fire Marshal Causey Announces Brian Taylor, City of Albemarle Fire Marshal, as Assistant State Fire Marshal

Insurance Commissioner and State Fire Marshal Mike Causey announced today that Albemarle Fire Marshal Brian Taylor will join the North Carolina Office of State Fire Marshal (OSFM) as the Assistant State Fire Marshal.

“I am excited to welcome Fire Marshal Taylor to the family that is the Office of State Fire Marshal,” said Causey. “Fire Marshal Taylor has the diverse experience that is required to run OSFM and manage the broad scope of work that we do.”

Taylor started working for the City of Albemarle in 1992 as a firefighter and has been the Fire Marshal since 2000. As Fire Marshal, Taylor has overseen permits and building inspections, fire inspections and enforcement, emergency management, fire and arson investigations, and public fire and life safety education, including the coordination of Safe Kids Stanly County.

Taylor is an active board member with the Partnership for Children, Juvenile Crime Prevention Council, Stanly County Partners in Health, Friends of Butterfly House Child Advocacy Center, Crime Stoppers Stanly County and Albemarle Rotary Club. Fire Marshal Taylor belongs to the NC Firefighters Association, NC Association of Fire Chiefs, NC Fire Marshals Association, NC International Association of Arson Investigation and the Western NC Fire and Life Safety Educators Association.

Taylor and wife Kathy Cook Taylor have five children and two grandchildren.
