North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of a Randolph County insurance agent on multiple charges, including embezzlement, forgery and uttering.Jeffrey Martin Webster of 704 Teague Drive, Jamestown, was arrested on Feb. 27. He is the owner of Webster Insurance Agency in Archdale. He was charged with embezzlement by an insurance producer and 18 counts of common law forgery and 18 counts of common law uttering, all felonies.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey has announced the arrest of Jason Vance Ledford, 46, of Orangewood Lane, Newton. Ledford, a bail bondsman, was charged with attempting to discharge a weapon into an occupied vehicle in operation, a felony. He was also charged with two misdemeanor counts of assault with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor injury to personal property.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Richard Antonio Van Davis, 43, of 630 Johns Lane, Gastonia. Davis was charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, both felonies.Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Davis of falsely claiming that he was injured as a pedestrian in a vehicle crash. According to the arrest warrant, Davis altered medical documents in an attempt to collect on a claim with Progressive Southern Insurance Co.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Robert Jeffrey Burns, 54, of 11 Rachel Fay Drive, Hendersonville. Burns was charged with embezzlement and conversion by a bailee, both felonies.Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Burns of embezzling $3,412.50 from Queen Bail Bonds. In addition, Burns is accused of converting more than $400 in bonds owned by Palmetto Surety Corp. to his own use.The offenses occurred on Feb. 12, 2025.
Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced that the North Carolina Department of Insurance saved or recovered $142 million for North Carolinians in 2025.The recovered funds include those from insurance fraud restitution, consumer assistance, market monitoring and external reviews, where Department employees helped consumers get needed medical procedures and prescription drugs.
