Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey will visit Kitty Hawk on Friday, August 15 to tour the new Dare County Emergency Management Station 9, located at 4904 N. Croatan Hwy.  The tour will take place at 10 a.m. that morning. Afterwards, Commissioner Causey will address the media to highlight water safety and the peak of the Atlantic Hurricane Season in North Carolina.

The North Carolina Department of Insurance has posted the rate changes requested by insurers for the 2026 plan year individual and small-group market plans offered under the Affordable Care Act.Posting of the requested rates is part of the rate review process required by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of the Town of Denton’s former fire chief.Brandon Allen Dorsett, 37, of Denton was charged with misusing government computers and two counts of fraud, all felonies.Davidson County deputies arrested Dorsett on July 11. He was released on $10,000 unsecured bond. He is scheduled to appear in Davidson County District Court on Aug. 4
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced the arrest of Nichloas McArthur Bennett, 43, of 419 Beasley Dr., Greenville, on Aug. 16, 2024. At the time, Bennett was charged in Pitt County with two counts of identity theft and one count of obtaining property by false pretense.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of William James Grier, 39, of 4602 Waterford Knoll Dr., Charlotte. Grier is charged with one count of insurance fraud and one count of attempting to obtain property by false pretense. Both charges are felonies.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced the arrest of Oscar Rafael Ruiz, 44, of 1921 Abbott St., Charlotte. Ruiz is charged with 26 counts of insurance fraud, 21 counts of attempting to obtain property by false pretense and five counts of obtaining property by false pretense. All 52 charges are felonies.
