North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced that Krystle Jolia Fuller, 36, of 2008 Stoneycreek Drive, High Point, was charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, both felonies.

Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Fuller of presenting $9,416.88 in fraudulent receipts to State Farm Insurance Co. in an attempt to obtain payment for a homeowners’ insurance claim.

The offenses occurred on Sept. 9, 2020.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey will honor eight Lenoir County firefighters who helped rescue victims from an April mobile home fire.

Commissioner Causey, who is also the State Fire Marshal, will also deliver more than $335,000 in ceremonial grant checks to 19 volunteer fire departments during a trip to Wayne and Lenoir counties on Wednesday, July 14.

Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Wall of providing fraudulent documents and giving a false statement to Travelers Indemnity Co. to support a personal property homeowners’ policy claim.

The offense occurred between Nov. 14, 2019, and Jan. 9, 2020.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Tanajah Monae Ramsey, 28, of 4505 Sycamore Park, Fayetteville. Ramsey was charged with insurance fraud, a felony.

Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Ramsey of providing USAA Insurance Company with false information in support of a May 1 automobile insurance claim.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Rickey Levar Bobo, 43, of Mount Gilead. Bobo was charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, both felonies.

Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Bobo of providing false photos and documents in an attempt to obtain a payment for damaged property from Travelers Insurance.

The offenses occurred between March 10 and April 14.

During a visit to Duplin and Sampson counties on Wednesday, June 30, North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey will present more than $325,000 in ceremonial fire and rescue grant checks, visit an insurance agency and honor two members of the North Carolina fire service with SAVE awards.

Warsaw firefighter Blake Phillips and Faison Fire Chief Lee Kennedy will be honored with SAVE awards for life-saving actions they took during a fire earlier this year.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Marissa Hope Bailey, 24, of 3965 Rosehill Road, Fayetteville. Bailey was charged with insurance fraud and obtaining property by false pretense, both felonies.

According to the arrest warrant, Bailey obtained $8,258.71 in short-term disability benefits from Sedgwick Insurance after filing a fraudulent death certificate and medical documents with the company.

The offenses occurred between July 7, 2020, and Nov. 10, 2020.

In recognition of Fireworks Safety Awareness Week (June 28-July 4), Insurance Commissioner and State Fire Marshal Mike Causey urges North Carolinians to stay safe when celebrating Independence Day by avoiding the use of fireworks. Fireworks are a traditional part of America’s 4th of July celebration, but if not handled properly, celebrations could end with a trip to the hospital.

The hearing scheduled for the insurance industry’s proposed statewide average 24.5% homeowners’ insurance rate increase has been extended six weeks from Sept. 20 to Nov.1. Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey says he needs the additional time to review the documents filed by the North Carolina Rate Bureau.

As the summer swimming season kicks into full gear, Insurance Commissioner and Safe Kids North Carolina Chair Mike Causey reminds parents and caregivers about important safety tips to reduce child drownings.

“On these warm summer days in North Carolina, many families will be drawn to activities near water,” said Commissioner Causey. “Drownings can happen so fast – before you even realize what’s happening. So, we want parents and caregivers to be particularly cautious and take steps to avoid any potential tragedies in the water.”
