Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey awarded the Order of the Guardian to Brenda Foss on June 30, 2017, for serving 51 years in the insurance industry in North Carolina.

“Brenda Foss has been an exemplary representative for the insurance industry for over half a century and I am so pleased to present her with the first Order of the Guardian,” said Causey. “Choosing Brenda to receive this award was easy because of her focus, attention and care for every single customer.”

Foss is the first recipient awarded the Order of the Guardian from the North Carolina Department of Insurance. The presentation took place during her retirement celebration in Hickory.

Foss began working for Pons Insurance in Valdese in January 1966 where she spent 17 years working personal lines and eventually concentrating on commercial lines of insurance. Foss spent some time working for Nationwide Insurance Agency in Caldwell County before moving on to Cameron M. Harris Agency of Morganton in March 1988. BB&T Insurance Services purchased Cameron M. Harris Agency and is where Foss finished her career on June 30, 2017.

The Order of the Guardian is awarded in recognition of the character, integrity, service and honor of insurance industry professionals by Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey.
