State Fire Marshal to announce fire insurance ratings in Raleigh this week Commissioner will visit departments on both Tuesday and Wednesday

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey, who also serves as the State Fire Marshal, will announce new insurance ratings at two Raleigh fire departments this week.

On Tuesday morning, Commissioner Causey will unveil the new fire rating for the Durham Highway Fire Department, and he will visit the Western Wake Fire Department to present its fire rating on Wednesday afternoon.

Both departments recently underwent inspections by the Office of State Fire Marshal. A fire department’s rating affects homeowners and business insurance premiums and helps signal how prepared firefighters are at responding to calls and battling blazes in their fire districts.

The new ratings will become effective for insurance policies on June 1.
