Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey will honor an Alamance Community Fire District firefighter who has served for a half century with the Department of Insurance’s top award on Sunday afternoon.
Wayne Henderson, who joined the Alamance Community Fire District in Guilford County Aug. 1, 1975, will receive the Order of the Guardian Award. Henderson plans to retire on Aug. 28, 2025.
The presentation will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, during a retirement party for Henderson at the Alamance Community Fire District, Station 54, 4108 Presbyterian Road, Greensboro, N.C. 27406.
Henderson has served the community in many capacities. He has served the community with passion and passed down his years of experience to younger generations of firefighters.
