Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey will present the Department’s top award to a longtime insurance agent and community servant during a visit to Wilmington on Thursday, Oct. 16. Following the presentation, Commissioner Causey will stop by a Wilmington fire station.
David Ward, the owner of David Ward State Farm Agency, will receive the Order of the Guardian Award from Commissioner Causey.
Ward opened his agency in October 1976 and still comes to work every day. Ward has achieved multiple recognitions and awards within State Farm, including 22 years in the Legion of Honors, 25 years in the Honor Club and six years as an Ambassador of Travel. In addition, Ward has served as president of the Wilmington Azalea Festival and has been a sponsor of the Boys and Girls Home as well as the food bank. He has also sponsored numerous youth sports teams in the Wilmington area.
Following the award presentation, Commissioner Causey will visit the Wilmington Fire Department Headquarters.
