North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced that Athenia Renee Singletary, 52, of 149 Sweetgum Court, Raeford, was charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, both felonies.

Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Singletary of making a false statement to Nationwide General Insurance Co. in an attempt to collect on an automobile insurance claim.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Daniel Squire Bohland, 47, of 4280 Highway 158, Advance. Bohland was charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, both felonies.

Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Bohland of attempting to obtain a payment from N.C. Farm Bureau Insurance Co. by telling the insurance company and Winston-Salem police that his Kawasaki motorcycle had been stolen.

Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Pair of obtaining $45,105.36 from State Farm Insurance Co. by presenting the company with fraudulent documents and photographs in a renters’ insurance claim.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of LaQuisha Renee Staton, 28, of 6335 Piedra Drive, Raleigh. Staton was charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, both felonies.

Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Staton of attempting to obtain an automobile insurance claim payment from Nationwide Insurance Co. of America by providing false information to the company.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Alexander Terrell Kirby, 29, of 201 N. Hughes St., Apex. Kirby was charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, both felonies.

Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Kirby of attempting to obtain payment from Allstate Insurance Co. on a renter’s insurance claim by providing a fictitious receipt for a Rolex watch.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Kemeya Myesha Pittman, 37, of 1200 Stoneridge Lane, Rocky Mount. Pittman was charged with insurance fraud, attempting to obtain property by false pretense and altering a motor vehicle title, all felonies.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Shaquon Lashawn Burrus, 30, of 2375 Vineyard Drive, Winterville. Burrus was charged with seven counts of insurance fraud and seven counts of obtaining property by false pretense, all felonies.

Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Burrus of obtaining $10,107.50 by filing false medical records to support accidental insurance claims with Aflac.

Special agents with Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Talbert of trying to obtain $2,500 from United Services Automobile Association by falsely telling the insurance company that she lost her ring at a ballfield.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Lakaiyaa Latrice Lyons, 29, of 112 Zinnia Court, Rocky Mount. Lyons was charged with felony insurance fraud.

Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Lyons of filing a false automobile insurance claim with Sentry Insurance by claiming another vehicle crashed into her 2008 Infiniti, causing her to lose control and drive into a ditch and other objects.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of James Alton Hoggard Jr., 22, of 1125 Mulberry St., Hassell. Hoggard was charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, both felonies, along with a misdemeanor charge of making a false report to police.
