North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced that Anthony Delon Liles, 37, of 110 Stoney Drive, Durham, was charged with two counts of insurance fraud and one count of attempting to obtain property by false pretense, all felonies.
Special Agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Liles of attempting to collect on an auto insurance claim from Progressive Premier Insurance Co. by obtaining an auto policy online after a vehicle crash and claiming the wreck occurred after he obtained the policy.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced that Debbie Hogan Steele, 59, of 729 Craige St., Salisbury, was charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, both felonies.
Special Agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Steele of attempting to obtain payment from National General Insurance Co. for an auto damage claim in a hit and run that had previously been reported in 2018.
The offenses occurred between March 9-11.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of a Cornelius man who operated a debt collection business without being licensed in the state.Gordon Scott Engle, 56, of 16424 Green Dolphin Lane, Cornelius, was charged with 81 felony counts of failing to secure a permit from the Commissioner of Insurance. The N.C. Department of Insurance regulates and licenses debt collection businesses in North Carolina.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced that Jhueate Elijah Andrews, 19, of 2311 Portola Court, Charlotte, was charged with insurance fraud, a felony.
Special Agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Andrews of telling Nationwide Insurance Co. of America, in an auto insurance claim, that damage to his vehicle occurred during a hit and run when the damage occurred much earlier, before he bought the vehicle.
The offense occurred on June 22.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced that Stephanie Renee Norman, 38, of 10700 Point South Drive, Charlotte, was charged with felony insurance fraud.
Special Agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Norman of filing a false auto insurance claim with Southern General Insurance Co., saying her 2007 Chevrolet had been stolen when it had been involved in a crash.
The offense occurred on May 2.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Timothy Darnell Montague Jr. and Akira Veneta Montague, both 22, and both of 7821 Bergstrom Drive, Raleigh. Both were charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, both felonies.
Special Agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations division accuse the Montagues of providing false documents for items reported stolen in an attempt to obtain $3,060.97 in rental insurance claim payments from American National Insurance Co.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Kenneth Dean Alexander Cooper, 46, of 2109 Pelham Road, Raleigh. Cooper was charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, both felonies.
Special Agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Cooper of attempting to obtain payments from Sentry Insurance Co. by falsely claiming he was injured in an automobile collision.
The offenses occurred between Sept. 16, 2019, and Aug. 11, 2020.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced that Reneeca Jagnarain, 21, of 812 Fairview Drive, Lexington, was charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, both felonies.
Special Agents accuse Jagnarain of attempting to obtain $3,186.87 from National General Insurance by claiming that damage to her vehicle occurred on Sept. 21, 2019, when it actually occurred before she took out an auto insurance policy on Sept. 13, 2019.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Hunter Jacob Priest, 28, of 5223 Meadowbrook Drive, New Bern. Priest was charged with insurance fraud, a felony.
Special Agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Priest of providing a false statement to Geico Insurance regarding his involvement in a wreck Nov. 14, 2019, in Morehead City.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Tanisha Shantell Herring, 28, of 107 Duff Creek Drive, Teachey. Herring was charged with insurance fraud, a felony.
Herring is accused of filing an insurance claim with Integon Indemnity Corp. for damage to her vehicle that had already been claimed.
The offense occurred between Jan. 23 and Jan. 27.
