North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced that Philip Scott Miller, 54, of 1401 Sumner Road, Thomasville, was charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, both felonies.

Special Agents with the Department of Insurance's Criminal Investigations Division accuse Miller of trying to obtain insurance claim benefits from Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co. by telling the insurance company that pre-existing damage to his 2008 Honda Civic EX was new damage.

Special Agents with the Department of Insurance's Criminal Investigations Division accuse Fripp of falsely reporting to Geico that his 2010 Dodge Avenger had been stolen, knowing that the auto had been wrecked.

The offenses occurred between April 8-11.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced that Dominique Denice Johnson, 34, of 6728 Rocky Ridge Road, Hillsborough, was charged with felony obtaining property by false pretense.

Special Agents with the Department of Insurance's Criminal Investigations Division accuse Johnson of accepting $1,300 from Barbara Walton for services not rendered – painting, delivery of gravel, and pressure washing.

Special Agents with the Department of Insurance's Criminal Investigations Division accuse Blount of providing an altered Emergency Medical Services bill to Sentry Insurance to receive benefits from an auto insurance policy.

According to the arrest warrant, the offense occurred between May 26 and Aug. 20.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Dante Jamaal Blackwell, 35, of 451 Underwood Road, Elon. Blackwell was charged with felony insurance fraud.

Special Agents accuse Blackwell of telling National General Insurance Co. that his vehicle was stolen, knowing that the vehicle was being used by someone at his residence who had access to the auto.

According to the arrest warrant, the offense occurred between Nov. 15, 2018, and Jan. 15, 2019.<.p>
