North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Alphonso Ray Murray, 54, of 795 Black River Lane, Harrells. Murray was charged with insurance fraud, obtaining property by false pretense and two counts of car title application fraud, all felonies.Murray is the owner of Murray’s Auto World in Wilson.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced today the arrest of Voderick Delain Springs Jr., 30, of 1914 E. Third Street, Winston-Salem, NC. Springs Jr. is charged with one count of insurance fraud and one count of obtaining property by false pretense, both felonies.Special agents with the NC Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division found that Springs Jr. submitted a claim for funds from Allstate that he had earlier filed with Liberty Mutual to twice collect $9,100 in coverage for stolen items.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced today the arrest of Tammy Robbins Cox, 53, of 2073 Horne Town Road, Polkton, NC. Cox was charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense.According to special agents with the NC Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division, Cox presented oral and written statements to Progressive Premier Insurance Company of Illinois to obtain additional coverage on a vehicle that had already been in an accident. According to the arrest warrant, the offense occurred on March 9.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Shaquan Samir Walker, 31, of 1317 Buckingham Ave., Wilmington. Walker was charged with insurance fraud, a felony.Special agents accuse Walker of altering hospital and doctor visit documents in an accidental health insurance claim with Voya Financial.Walker was arrested May 3. He was released on $2,500 unsecured bond.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced today the arrests of Jason William Doss, 45, and Heather Vogler Doss, 35, of 2567 Volunteer Road, Pinnacle, NC. Each is charged with one count of insurance fraud and one count of obtaining property by false pretense, both felonies. Jason Doss was additionally charged with possession of illegal drugs, a felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.
With hurricane season rapidly approaching, Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey urges North Carolinians to use National Hurricane Preparedness Week, which runs May 5-11, as a time to prepare for the potential of extreme weather.The Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30. Forecasters are predicting that the 2024 hurricane season will be especially busy, dangerous, and potentially expensive to home and property owners.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced today the arrest of Quincy Quaime Duff, 32, of 790 Maxton Bass Road, Newton Grove, NC. Duff was charged with issuing a false statement, attempting to obtain property by false pretense and common law forgery. All are felonies.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced today the arrest of Whitley Danielson Owensby, 28, of 2473 Paint Fork Road, Mars Hill, NC. Owensby was charged with one count of common law forgery and one count of obtaining property by false pretense, both felonies. According to special agents with the NC Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division, Owensby attempted to deposit a two-party check into his Bank of America Business Account in the amount of $40,296.19 without the consent of the second party named on the check, Debourg Logisitics. 
North Carolina Commissioner of Insurance Mike Causey is recognizing SHIIP volunteers during National Volunteer Week for the valuable role they play in advancing the mission of NC SHIIP.North Carolina now has more than 2.1 million Medicare beneficiaries. National Volunteer Week runs from April 21-27."Without our remarkable, selfless volunteers, SHIIP would not be able to help so many Medicare beneficiaries in our state," Commissioner Causey added. "I'm very grateful for their continued service to their fellow North Carolinians."
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Julius Darnell Kelly, 50, of Wilson, and Virginia Jones Maddox, 57, of 812 Belmont Ave. SW, Wilson. Kelly was charged with four counts of identity theft, two counts of insurance fraud, two counts of obtaining property by false pretense, one count of attempting to obtain property by false pretense, one count of forgery and two counts of title application fraud, all felonies. Maddox was charged with three counts of felony notary fraud.
