North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced the arrest of Dylan Scott Smith, 23, of 204 New Orleans Blvd., Morganton. Smith is charged with one count of insurance fraud and two counts of obtaining property by false pretense. All three charges are felonies.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of the Town of Denton’s former fire chief.Brandon Allen Dorsett, 37, of Denton was charged with misusing government computers and two counts of fraud, all felonies.Davidson County deputies arrested Dorsett on July 11. He was released on $10,000 unsecured bond. He is scheduled to appear in Davidson County District Court on Aug. 4
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced the arrest of Nichloas McArthur Bennett, 43, of 419 Beasley Dr., Greenville, on Aug. 16, 2024. At the time, Bennett was charged in Pitt County with two counts of identity theft and one count of obtaining property by false pretense.

Updated to Include Victim Assistance Center Saturday in CarrboroNorth Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey has announced the opening of a Victim Assistance Center (VAC) in Carrboro to help victims of flooding from Tropical Storm Chantal.Representatives from NCDOI will be present to answer insurance-related questions and to provide assistance.The VACs will be held from noon to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, Friday, July 11 and on Saturday, July 12 on the first floor of the Drakeford Multipurpose Room, located at 203 S. Greensboro St., Carrboro.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey has announced the opening of a Victim Assistance Center (VAC) to help aid those impacted by flooding from Tropical Storm Chantal.Representatives from NCDOI will be on hand to aid those in need of insurance-related support from the storm.The VAC will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 10 at the cul-de-sac near 510 Seven Oaks Road in Durham. Commissioner Causey and State Senator Sophia Chitlik will be present.
