North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Seth Frazier, 27, of 10870 Broadview Drive, Raleigh. Frazier was charged with insurance fraud, a felony.

Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Frazier of telling Progressive Insurance that he had a vehicle accident after he reinstated his insurance coverage when the crash actually occurred while there was a lapse in coverage.

The offense occurred between Feb. 2 and June 8.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Louis Paul Gurganus Jr., 43, of 3309 Ridgewood Ave., Monroe. Gurganus was charged with insurance fraud, a felony.

Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Gurganus of falsely telling Sedgwick Claims Management Services Inc. that he was unaware of a liquid spill on the floor of a Monroe grocer before he slipped and fell.

The offense occurred between March 7 and March 9.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Michael Stephen Linardy, 56, of 2310 Red Carpet Drive, Fuquay Varina. Linardy is charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, both felonies.

Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Linardy of falsely telling United Services Automobile Association that his wife’s wedding ring was lost when the ring was in his possession when he filed the claim.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Shavon Nicole Green, 34, 316 Fedelon Trail, Goldsboro. Green was charged with insurance fraud, a felony.

Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Green of providing National General Insurance Co. the wrong date that her vehicle was damaged.

According to the arrest warrant, the damage occurred after Green took out the automobile insurance policy.

The offense occurred on May 13.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Geneva Louise Harris, 55, of 706 Beech St., Elizabeth City. Harris was charged with three counts of obtaining property by false pretense, a felony, and three counts of misdemeanor common law forgery.

Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Harris of producing fake medical bills from Comprehensive Rehabilitation & Pain Specialists to her employer at the Ramada Plaza in Kill Devil Hills.

As temperatures heat up with the onset of summer, Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey reminds North Carolinians of the dangers of leaving children and pets inside cars.

“The fun of summer can quickly become tragic if parents mistakenly leave their child or pet inside a car,” said Commissioner Causey. “It only takes 10 minutes for the temperature to rise to dangerous levels, so be sure to look before you lock.”

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey on Wednesday will honor first responders and a family member who teamed up to save a Raleigh man’s life after he collapsed while mowing his yard.

Commissioner Causey, in his role as State Fire Marshal, will present SAVE Awards and Commissioner’s Awards during a ceremony in front of the Albemarle Building, which houses the N.C. Department of Insurance, at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 16. The Albemarle Building is located at 325 N. Salisbury St., Raleigh, N.C. 27601.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner and State Fire Marshal Mike Causey will award approximately $500,000.00 in fire and rescue grants to 17 volunteer fire departments and rescue squads in need during a visit to Wilkes County Monday, June 14.  While there, Commissioner Causey will also recognize former Mountain View Volunteer Fire Department Chief Bill Johnson and Moravian Falls Fire Department Chief Bob Johnson with posthumous Order of the Guardian awards.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner and State Fire Marshal Mike Causey will award approximately $250,000.00 in fire and rescue grants to ten volunteer fire departments in need during a trip to Avery County Thursday, June 10.  While there, Commissioner Causey will also present the Order of the Guardian award to Avery County Fire Marshal and Emergency Management Coordinator David Charles Vance.
