North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Kenneth Lawson Reynolds, 40, of 315 Scranton Court, Richlands. Reynolds is charged with fraudulently burning a dwelling, insurance fraud and obtaining property by false pretense, all felonies.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of James Brian Shaffer, 36, of 300 S. High St., Asheboro. Shaffer was charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, both felonies.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey will travel to Surry County on Wednesday, May 12, to present ceremonial matching grant checks totaling more than $60,000 to eight area rescue squads.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced that Bobby Lester Parks III, 33, of 2448 S. Holden Road, Greensboro, was charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, both felonies.

Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Parks of telling Progressive Premier Insurance Co. of Illinois that his automobile was involved in an accident on Dec. 22, 2020, when the accident occurred on Dec. 21, 2020.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Karshi Demel Swinson-Davis, 21, of 307 Wolf Creek Circle, Raleigh. Swinson-Davis was charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, both felonies.

Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Swinson-Davis of telling State Farm Insurance Co. that his 2009 Nissan Maxima was stolen from his residence when it had been repossessed.

The offenses occurred on May 23, 2019.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced that Gordon Scott Engle, 57, of 16424 Green Dolphin Lane, Cornelius, has pleaded guilty to five counts of felony debt collecting without a license.Mecklenburg County Superior Court Judge Casey Viser gave Engle a five-to-15-month suspended sentence with two years of supervised probation. Engle was also fined $5,000 and prohibited from applying for a debt collection license for three years. He will also be required to complete 100 hours of community service work.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Yushawn Antonio Johnson, 24, of 5315 Arrowwood Circle, Sanford, and Elizabeth Jowana McCall, 24, of 304 Tinderbox Court, Aberdeen. Both were charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, both felonies.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced that Julius Rasheem Ellerbe, 22, of 120 Daniels Lane, Rockingham, was charged with felonious restraint and unlicensed bail bonding, a misdemeanor.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced that Rhonda Lynn Tyson, 52, of 101 Louis Armstrong Court, Chapel Hill, has been charged with insurance fraud and two counts of attempting to obtain property by false pretense, all felonies.

Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Tyson of filing a claim with State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co. for an accident for which she had already been compensated.

The offenses occurred on June 19, 2019.
