North Carolina Insurance Commissioner and State Fire Marshal Mike Causey will award approximately $500,000.00 in fire and rescue grants to 17 volunteer fire departments and rescue squads in need during a visit to Wilkes County Monday, June 14.  While there, Commissioner Causey will also recognize former Mountain View Volunteer Fire Department Chief Bill Johnson and Moravian Falls Fire Department Chief Bob Johnson with posthumous Order of the Guardian awards.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner and State Fire Marshal Mike Causey will award approximately $250,000.00 in fire and rescue grants to ten volunteer fire departments in need during a trip to Avery County Thursday, June 10.  While there, Commissioner Causey will also present the Order of the Guardian award to Avery County Fire Marshal and Emergency Management Coordinator David Charles Vance.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Delassio McKinnon, 23, of 6772 Mill Pond Road, Battleboro. McKinnon was charged with two counts of insurance fraud, obtaining property by false pretense and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, all felonies.

NOAA estimates 13 to 20 named storms (winds of 39 mph or higher) with six to 10 of them predicted to be hurricanes (winds of 74 mph or higher).

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey on Wednesday will honor an 11-year-old girl who protected her younger brother after a fire broke out in their Charlotte home in March.

The girl, Tyshala Ni’Ann Wilson, will be given the Commissioner’s Award for Heroism.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Carol Dean Moore, 59, of 65 Fugitive Run, Sylva. Moore is charged with two counts of obstructing justice and one count of obtaining property by false pretense, all felonies.

Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Moore of bailing an inmate out of a Macon County jail twice using expired power of attorney paperwork.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Jauteria Shanice Faison, 27, of 173 Homeplace Lane, Clinton. Faison is accused of insurance fraud, a felony.

Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Faison of filing an automobile insurance claim with Progressive Insurance Co. for damage to her 2014 Kia Optima that was present before she took out her insurance policy on March 2.

RALEIGH — North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Jeffery Scott Fletcher, 55, of 7618 Highway 258 South, Pinetops. Fletcher was charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, both felonies.
