North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey pressed for further support and aid for victims of Hurricane Helene during a visit to Washington, D.C., this week.

At the roundtable discussion on hurricane response hosted by the U.S. Department of Treasury on Wednesday, Commissioner Causey told fellow panelists of the need for strong and consistent communication with the citizens of western North Carolina regarding federal and state resources available to them as they look to rebuild their communities.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey will visit Washington, D.C. this week to advocate on behalf of and push for more relief aid for North Carolina victims of Hurricane Helene.

Commissioner Causey will participate in a roundtable discussion on Hurricane Response hosted by the U.S. Department of Treasury at their main building from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Oct. 30.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner has announced that Victim Assistance Centers (VACs) will open in Brevard, Marion, Jefferson, Lenoir, Sylva and Old Fort to aid those affected by Hurricane Helene.

The following VACs will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.:

Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey will visit an Insurance Camp in Buncombe County on Thursday as the Department of Insurance continues its efforts to help those impacted by Hurricane Helene.

The Insurance Camp will be set up at Lowe’s Home Improvement, 19 McKenna Road, Arden, N.C. 28704 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24. Commissioner Causey plans to be on site at the Insurance Camp at 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey has announced Victim Assistance Centers (VACs) will be open in the towns of Jefferson, Sugar Grove and Beech Mountain to aid those affected by Hurricane Helene.

A VAC will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at the Parks and Recreation Center, 626 Ashe Central School Road, Jefferson, N.C. 28640.

A second VAC will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at The West Watauga Community Center, 1081 Old U.S. Hwy. 421, Sugar Grove, N.C. 28679.

A VAC will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at the Spindale House, 119 Tanner St, Spindale, N.C. 28160.

A second VAC will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16, and Thursday, Oct. 17, at The Radiant Church, 3839 Sweeten Creek Road, Arden, N.C. 28704

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey has announced Victim Assistance Centers (VACs) will be open in Boone to aid those affected by Hurricane Helene.

The VACs, which provide in-person and on-the-ground recovery assistance and insurance-related support to those directly impacted by Hurricane Helene, will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10, and Friday, Oct. 11, at the Watauga County NCWorks Career Center, located at 130 Poplar Grove Road, Boone, N.C. 28607.

“The Victim Assistance Centers will provide in-person and on-the-ground recovery assistance and insurance-related support to those directly impacted by Hurricane Helene,” Commissioner Causey said. “Our Insurance Camps allow us to work with the insurance industry on the ground to give storm victims direct access to their insurance companies. We plan on doing more going forward.”

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced that Medicare beneficiaries impacted by Hurricane Helene have been granted an extended Special Enrollment Period (SEP) to sign up for Medicare health and prescription drug coverage.

This extended period gives beneficiaries extra time to make changes to their Medicare coverage due to the unforeseen circumstances that accompany a natural disaster.
