North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Chad Steven Neiswonger, 42, of 621 Cameron St., Burlington. Neiswonger was charged with three counts of insurance fraud and three counts of attempting to obtain property by false pretense, all felonies.
According to the arrest warrant, Neiswonger submitted altered medical bills totaling $20,388.06 from Moses Cone and UNC to Jefferson Insurance Co. between July 23, 2018, and Nov. 1, 2018.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Chance Blake, 23, of 241 Tricycle Hill Lane, Lexington. Blake was charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, both felonies.
Special Agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Blake of attempting to obtain money from a Geico auto policy after conspiring with someone else to have his 2017 Jeep Renegade taken and burned.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Alexander Ortiz Lopez, 39, of 807 Skybrook Falls Drive, Huntersville. Lopez was charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, both felonies.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Tyrene Sherman Griffin, 37, of 1315 Main St., Jamesville. Griffin was charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, both felonies.
Special Agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Griffin of filing a false auto theft police report and then filing a claim with Geico Indemnity Co. According to the arrest warrant, Martin County deputies saw Griffin drive his vehicle.
The offenses occurred between Sept. 29 and Nov. 6.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Allison Waymer, 50, of 1614 Sunset Road, Oxford. Waymer is charged with insurance fraud, a felony.
According to the arrest warrant, Waymer filed a claim with Geico Indemnity Co. saying her motorcycle had been stolen when she knew that it was in the possession of her ex-boyfriend.
The offense occurred between Oct. 16 and Nov. 13.
Special Agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division arrested Waymer on Nov. 15. She was placed under $20,000 secured bond.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Anthony Rayshawn Simpson, 28, of 907 Logan St., Greensboro, and Daryl Andrea Beasley, 31, of 508 Storey St., Burlington.
Both were charged with obtaining property by false pretense, attempting to obtain property by false pretense and two counts of conspiracy to obtain property by false pretense, all felonies. The two were also charged with two misdemeanor counts of acting as a bail agent without a license.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Michael Deshawn Sawyer, 27, of 1201 Crisp St., Goldsboro. Sawyer was charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, both felonies.
Special Agents with the Department of Insurance's Criminal Investigations Division accuse Sawyer of falsely reporting that his 2015 Nissan Altima was damaged by gunfire on Nov. 29, 2018, one day after he purchased insurance on the vehicle.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Alexander Mitchell Harris, 20, of 5086 Ches Lane, Kernersville. Harris was charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, both felonies.
According to the arrest warrant, Harris filed a claim with National General Insurance Co. saying that his 2007 Dodge Ram pickup truck had been stolen when the vehicle had been sold to another individual.
The offense occurred between Sept. 12, 2018, and Feb. 14, 2019.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Saphonia Denise Sellars, 26, of 528 N. Scales St., Reidsville. Sellars was charged with felony insurance fraud.
According to the arrest warrant, Sellars told Sentry Insurance Co. that her 2008 Ford Explorer had been stolen when the vehicle had been repossessed about two weeks before the reported theft.
The offense occurred between Dec. 29, 2018, and Jan. 22, 2019.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Anthony M. Watson, 45, of 5606 Bringle Court, Raleigh. Watson was charged with insurance fraud, a felony.
According to the arrest warrant, Watson falsely told National General Insurance Co. that his vehicle had been stolen after the vehicle was involved in a collision.
The offense occurred between April 2 and May 6.
Watson was arrested on May 19 and given a $12,500 secured bond.
