Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Ericka Nicole Wright, 23, of 2640 Toddler Place, Winston-Salem; she is charged with one count each of insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense.

Department of Insurance criminal investigators accuse Wright of providing false statement regarding damages to a vehicle in order to receive payment from GEICO Insurance Company on April 25, 2016. Investigators allege the damage to the vehicle was sustained at a time Wright did not have insurance coverage.

Wright was arrested on Jan. 20 in Forsyth County and placed under a $1,000 bond.

An estimated 10 cents of every dollar paid in premiums goes toward the payment of fraudulent claims. The Department of Insurance employs 20 sworn state law enforcement officers dedicated to investigating and prosecuting claims of insurance and bail bonding fraud.
