Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Carla McIntyre, 46, and Latisha McIntyre, 28, of 611 Sunflower Circle, Sanford; both are charged with one count of insurance fraud and Latisha McIntyre is charged with one count of attempting to obtain property by false pretense

Department of Insurance criminal investigators accuse Carla and Latisha McIntyre of providing altered medical documents to GEICO Insurance Company in support of a bodily injury claim following an automobile accident on Feb. 6, 2017. Investigators allege Latisha McIntyre filed fraudulent medical documents for lost wages during the claim.

Carla and Latisha McIntyre were arrested on April 20 in Lee County with assistance from the Sanford Police Department. Carla McIntyre was placed under $3,000 bond and Latisha McIntyre was placed under a $5,000 bond.

"According to the FBI, insurance fraud costs the average family between $400 and $700 per year in the form of increased premiums," said Commissioner Causey. "Consumer protection is my number one priority and I will continue to fight insurance fraud with your help."
