North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Anthony Rayshawn Simpson, 28, of 907 Logan St., Greensboro, and Daryl Andrea Beasley, 31, of 508 Storey St., Burlington.
Both were charged with obtaining property by false pretense, attempting to obtain property by false pretense and two counts of conspiracy to obtain property by false pretense, all felonies. The two were also charged with two misdemeanor counts of acting as a bail agent without a license.
According to arrest warrants, Simpson and Beasley conspired to obtain money from two Alamance County defendants by acting as bail bondsmen on April 21, 2018, and again on June 8, 2018.
Special Agents with the Department of Insurance's Criminal Investigations Division, along with Graham police and Alamance County sheriff's deputies, arrested Simpson on April 30 and arrested Beasley on May 1. Simpson was given a $100,000 secured bond. Beasley was given a $25,000 secured bond. Both are due in Alamance County District Court on May 22.
