Special Agents charge man with First Degree Murder in Gaston County

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced the arrest of Joshua Hunsucker, W/M/ age 35, for First Degree Murder.  

Special Agents with the N.C. Department of Insurance's Criminal Investigations Division (NCDOI CID) led an investigation that began with an allegation of a fraudulent claim, involving a life insurance policy.  NCDOI CID conducted a lengthy investigation partnering with the Gaston County Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).  The investigation led to the arrest of Mr. Hunsucker for First Degree Murder, in the death of his wife Stacy Robinson Hunsucker W/F/age 32.  The date of offense was September 23, 2018, in Gaston County.

Mr. Hunsucker was arrested on December 19, 2019, without incident and placed in the Gaston County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center under no bond. Mr. Hunsucker is scheduled to appear in Gaston County District Court on December 20, 2019 for a bond hearing.

This is an active and ongoing investigation. 

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
