New Hanover County woman charged with two counts of insurance fraud

Jul 2, 2024

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Autum Larrae Nicholson, 34, of 1002 Monitor Drive, Wilmington, NC. Nicholson was charged with two counts of insurance fraud, both felonies.

According to special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division, Nicholson provided false statements regarding automobile accidents on two separate occasions to Progressive Premier Insurance Company.

According to the arrest warrants, the offenses occurred on May 26 and June 16.

Nicholson was arrested on June 27, fingerprinted and released on a $15,000 unsecured bond. She appeared in New Hanover County Court on June 28.

“Insurance fraud hits consumers in the wallet,” Commissioner Causey said. “Approximately 20 cents of every insurance premium dollar go to covering the cost of fraud. I’m fighting this by aggressively pursuing and prosecuting insurance fraud in North Carolina.”
