Nash County woman charged with fraud after filing false valuable personal property claims

RALEIGH
Jun 23, 2025

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced the arrest of Amanda Jo Mincolla, 36, of 13260 S. NC 231, Middlesex. Mincolla is charged with two counts of insurance fraud and two counts of obtaining property by false pretense. All charges are felonies.

According to special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division, Mincolla provided fraudulent pictures and police reports to USAA. She collected a total of $8,121 from the false valuable personal property claims to her renter’s insurance policy.

The incidents occurred on Dec. 4, 2024, according to the warrant.

Mincolla was arrested on June 22 and issued a $20,000 unsecured bond. She appeared in Nash County District Court on June 23.

“Insurance fraud hits consumers in the wallet,” Commissioner Causey said. “Approximately 20 cents of every insurance premium dollar goes to covering the cost of fraud. I’m fighting this by aggressively pursuing and prosecuting insurance fraud in North Carolina.”
