North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today fined UnitedHealthcare of North Carolina Inc. and its affiliate UnitedHealthcare Insurance Co. $3.4 million following over four years investigating the companies’ claims handling practices involving balance billing.

Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey will be present four Commissioner’s Awards and four Order of the Guardian Awards during a visit to Rockingham County on Saturday, Feb. 8.

The award presentations will take place at 6 p.m. at the Wentworth Fire Department, located at 8365 NC Hwy. 87, Reidsville, N.C. 27320.
