North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Cecila Monique Love, 35, of 2713 Westview St., Gastonia. Love was charged with felony insurance fraud.Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Love of submitting fictitious invoices from Caromont Regional Hospital in the amount of $13,549 to State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co. The offense occurred on Oct. 4, 2023.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced that Gaston County resident Christopher Mark Rogers, 51, of 5110 Chapman Point, Dallas, has been charged with insurance fraud, a felony.According to a criminal summons, Rogers, the owner of an Iredell County body shop, failed to use new parts to repair a vehicle when he had been paid by National General Insurance Co. to use new parts in the repair.The offense occurred on May 31, 2023.Commissioner Causey encourages North Carolinians to help keep insurance premiums low by reporting suspicious fraud.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Shinese Rayshawn Cox, 31, of 865 Kingold Blvd., Snow Hill. Cox was charged with obtaining property by false pretense, attempting to obtain property by false pretense and two counts of insurance fraud, all felonies. Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations division accuse Cox of filing fraudulent claims for windshield and hood damage from winds with multiple insurance companies including Progressive Premier, Liberty Mutual and Safeco insurance companies.

Freeman was charged with one count of insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, both felonies. The Gates County Sheriff’s office also charged Freeman with filing a false police report, a misdemeanor.

David was charged with one count of insurance fraud and one count of conspiracy to obtain property by false pretenses, both are felonies.Special agents with the NC Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse David of falsifying a motor vehicle accident form submitted to Nationwide Insurance on July 1, 2023. David claimed his mother, Christina Malachi, was present in the vehicle, when in fact she was not.

Peterson was charged with one count of insurance fraud and two counts of obtaining property by false pretenses, all felonies.Special agents with the NC Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Peterson of falsifying a medical claim form, including the physician’s information and submitting it to American Health and Life Insurance Company.
