North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Antonio Deondrea Collins, 32, of 1106 Ardmore Drive, Greensboro. Collins was charged with insurance fraud and obtaining property by false pretense, both felonies.

Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Collins of obtaining $11,122.24 from State Farm Insurance Co. by providing the company fraudulent photos and documents of a fire that did not occur as a part of a renters’ insurance policy claim.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Robert Edward Page, 69, 5298 Highway 94, Creswell. Page was charged with insurance fraud, a felony.

Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Page of falsely telling Geico that he was not driving his vehicle when it was involved in a crash.

The offense occurred on March 16, 2021.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Bonnie Fay Keel, 48, of 112 Spindrift Trail, Elizabeth City. Keel was charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, both felonies.

Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Keel of attempting to collect on an automobile insurance claim with Nationwide by providing photos of damage that had been submitted in a previous claim.

The offenses occurred on Oct. 31, 2021.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Chancellor Novell Faulkner, 33, of 2751 High Rock School Road, Blanch. Faulkner was charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, both felonies.

Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Faulkner of attempting to obtain a $3,900 payment for lost wages in an automobile insurance claim from Integon Indemnity Corp. by providing them with a false medical document.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Weldon Lamont Pappy-Mial, 27, of 1304 Garner Road, Raleigh. Pappy-Mial was charged with insurance fraud, a felony.

Special Agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Pappy-Mial of telling National General Insurance that his vehicle had been stolen when he knew it had been in a hit-and-run crash.

The offense occurred between Oct. 30, 2021, and Nov. 1, 2021.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Kenneth Lawson Reynolds, 41, of 315 Scranton Court, Richlands. Reynolds was charged with unlawful burning of personal property, insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, all felonies.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of April Denise Moore, 39, of 2960 N.C. 231, Wendell. Moore was charged with insurance fraud and obtaining property by false pretense, both felonies.

Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Moore of obtaining $3,275 from Aflac by presenting medical documents that contained false information to the insurance company.

The offenses occurred between Dec. 1, 2016, and May 17, 2018.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of John Edward Hight, 57, of 439 Baldy Murphy Road, Louisburg, and Ernest Broughton Tharrington Jr., 44, of 40 Casino Lane, Franklinton. Both were charged with two felony counts of obtaining property by false pretense and two misdemeanor counts of setting up mobile homes without a license.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Niki Vandiford Hathaway, 52, of 213 Speight Ave., Tarboro. Hathaway was charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, both felonies.

Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Hathaway of attempting to obtain a settlement from The General Insurance by filing a fictitious insurance claim for a stolen vehicle.

The offenses occurred on Aug. 4, 2021.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of James Jaquan Rutledge, 28, of 135 Aunt Mary Ave., Greensboro. Rutledge was charged with insurance fraud and obtaining property by false pretense, both felonies.

Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Rutledge of obtaining $29,838.14 from State Farm Insurance Co. by filing a fictitious renters’ insurance claim for a kitchen fire that did not occur.
