North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of William Ryan Chesson, 27, of 398 Frisco Dr., Holly Ridge. Chesson was charged with insurance fraud and obtaining property by false pretense, both felonies.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Deandre Niko Holmes, 28, of 2000 Woodhaven Drive, Albemarle. Holmes was charged with identity theft and obtaining property by false pretense, both felonies.Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Holmes of using another man’s Social Security card and driver’s license to obtain renters’ insurance from State Farm Fire and Casualty Co.   According to the arrest warrant, the offense occurred on March 13.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced the arrest of Christy Shemika Joyce, 47, of 1571 Lovett St., Greensboro, NC. Joyce was charged with one count of insurance fraud and one count of obtaining property by false pretense, both felonies.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey will honor the heroic actions of Michael Taylor during a special Save Award presentation in Randleman, NC at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 28.The Save Award honors Taylor for his acts of heroism in response to vehicle accident and fire on Sept. 4.Taylor, a civilian, responded on foot to the scene where a vehicle had crashed into power lines and caught fire. Taylor safely navigated his way around downed live power lines to safely pull the driver from the vehicle until emergency personnel arrived.

Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey, who is also the State Fire Marshal, is teaming with the Garner Fire Department to demonstrate the dangers associated with frying turkeys this holiday season.Commissioner Causey, along with Office of State Fire Marshal staff and Garner firefighters, will host a live fire demonstration to show the dangers of frying a turkey that has not fully thawed.The event will be on Monday, Nov. 20, at 10 a.m., at Garner Fire Station 1, 503 W. North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey will honor fire personnel with a pair of visits to Orange and Chatham counties on Friday, November 17 and Saturday, November 18.Commissioner Causey, who is also the State Fire Marshal, will present an Order of the Guardian Award to fire service personnel in recognition of years of service at 7 p.m. on Friday in Hillsborough. The award will be presented during the Orange County Emergency Services Banquet.The Order of the Guardian Award is the highest honor bestowed by the Department of Insurance.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Juan Terence Thompson, 34, of 13 South 12th Street, Wilmington, NC. Thompson was charged with one count of insurance fraud, a felony.Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Thompson of claiming a car accident occurred later than it did on July 2. Thompson obtained an insurance policy following the accident, but told the company the accident happened after he had a policy.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Jon Anthony Spencer, 38, of 150 Frye Road, Stoneville, NC. Spencer was charged with one count of attempting to obtain property by false pretense, a felony.Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Spencer of presenting an inflated towing bill on Sept. 5 for an accident that occurred on Sept. 1. The agents accuse Spencer of trying to defraud Geico Insurance Company out of $5,880.
