Liquidation of FHP-NC will occur Sept. 1.FHP-NC policyholders must choose a new exchange health insurance plan by Aug. 31 to avoid a gap in health insurance coverage.

The North Carolina Rate Bureau has requested a 50.6% statewide average rate increase for dwelling policies.The Rate Bureau represents the insurance companies in the state and is not a part of the N.C. Department of Insurance.The Rate Bureau filed the proposed increase with the Department of Insurance on July 13. The request would take effect on June 1, 2024.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner and State Fire Marshal Mike Causey will tour tornado-damaged areas and offer assistance to those affected by the storm in areas in Nash County this afternoon.A special Victim Assistance Center will be staffed by representatives from the Department of Insurance and the Office of State Fire Marshal to provide insurance information to policyholders affected by the storm. The center will be on site at the Red Oak Fire Department until 6 p.m. tonight and will return to the area on future dates if needed.

The department collaborated with the N.C. Department of Information Technology’s Government Data Analytics Center (GDAC) on multi-phased upgrades to NCDOI’s Bail Bond Information System (BBIS), including a new dashboard that uses technology from SAS, one of the state’s vendor partners, to integrate data in an online reporting system.
