North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Elizabeth Frizzell, 44, of 131 Lassiter Loop Road, Troy, and Wallace Lee Frizzell, 44, of 1174 Tammy’s Park Drive, Rockwell. Both were charged by special agents from the N.C. Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division with felony insurance fraud and felony conspiracy to commit insurance fraud.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Charlee Surgick Watts, 20, of 1526 Aristo Place Apartment 7, Hope Mills. Watts was charged with felony insurance fraud.

According to a warrant, Watts provided false information to Progressive Insurance while getting a lapsed auto policy reinstated, saying there had been no loss when, in fact, her vehicle had been damaged during the lapsed period.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Matthew Devonn Moore, 31, of 4811 Mystic Oak Drive, Browns Summit. Moore was charged with felony insurance fraud.

Special agents from the N.C. Department of Insurance Criminal Investigations Division accuse Moore of providing a false and misleading oral statement to Progressive Auto Insurance in support of an auto insurance claim.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Jerry Leon Johnson, 41, of 4311 Alma St., Greensboro. Johnson was charged with attempting to obtain property by false pretense, a felony. He was also served a criminal summons on a misdemeanor worthless check charge.

Special Agents with the Department of Insurance Criminal Investigations Division accuse Johnson of using a non-existent checking account to apply for an auto insurance policy with Geico Insurance Co. and then file a claim two days later.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced that Markel Tremayne Brooks, 25, of 3626 Belmont St. Apartment X, Greensboro, was charged with misdemeanor making a false statement on an insurance application.

According to a criminal summons, Brooks filed an application to reinstate a lapsed auto insurance policy after being in a car accident. During the reinstatement process, Brooks falsified and misrepresented orally and in writing the actual date of the accident, the summons says. The offense occurred between Feb. 11 and March 6.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Derrick Michael Brice, 33, of 270 Claymont Drive, Salisbury. Brice was charged with felony obtaining property by false pretense.

According to the warrant, Brice obtained $7,132.72 from Mutual of Omaha Insurance Co. by falsifying and forging information on new insurance policies.

Special agents with the N.C. Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division say five insurance policies were falsified while Brice was an agent or broker for the company.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced that special agents from the N.C. Department of Insurance Criminal Investigations Division filed insurance fraud and other related charges against two Goldsboro women.

Janette Katrina Darden, 43, of 606-D S. Andrews St., Goldsboro, was arrested and charged with felony insurance fraud, felony attempting to obtain property by false pretense, and felony conspiracy to obtain property by false pretense. She was arrested on April 24 in Wayne County and placed under a $10,000 secured bond.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Alesia Braswell Alwahishi of 206 W. Watson St., Selma. Alwahishi was charged with felony insurance fraud and felony obtaining property by false pretense.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of five people in an unlicensed bail bond conspiracy in western North Carolina.

Special agents from the Department of Insurance Criminal Investigations Division were alerted by Jackson County Sheriff’s Office detectives that two women at the Jackson County Detention Center were falsely representing themselves as bail bond agents.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Chris Edwin McCoy, 53, of 4614 Turtle Dove Court, Wilmington. McCoy was charged with one felony count of attempting to obtain property by false pretenses.
