North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey on Tuesday, Jan. 25, will honor a former Guilford County sheriff’s deputy for the heroic efforts he displayed on Interstate 85 just days before the Thanksgiving holiday.
According to news reports, Keith O. Mangum was traveling on I-85 when he witnessed a car that had made a U-turn and started driving north in the southbound lanes. The car crashed into a tractor-trailer and then hit a passenger car.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey on Tuesday will honor first Chief Danny Wilson for his 46 years of service to the Huntsville Volunteer Fire Department.
Commissioner Causey, in his role as State Fire Marshal, will present the Order of the Guardian Award during a ceremony at the Huntsville Volunteer Fire Department, at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9. The Huntsville Volunteer Fire Department is located at 1133 Sardis Church Road, Madison, N.C. 27025.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey will honor Troy Fire Chief Joe W. Huntley Jr. for his 60 years of volunteer firefighter service on Monday, Aug. 9, in Troy.
Commissioner Causey, who is the State Fire Marshal, will also award ceremonial matching grant checks totaling more than $248,000 to volunteer fire departments in Montgomery and Randolph counties.
The Guardian Award, which is the highest award by the Department of Insurance, will be presented to Chief Huntley during a stop at the Troy Fire Department at 9 a.m. Monday.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey will host a hot cars demonstration, visit children participating in the Inferno Fire Camp and present ceremonial grant checks to five volunteer fire departments in need during a trip to McDowell County on Thursday, Aug. 5.
In conjunction with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office and McDowell County Parks and Recreation, Commissioner Causey, who also serves as Safe Kids NC Chair, will host a hot cars demonstration at the McDowell County Parks and Recreation Center to show the dangers of leaving a child in a hot car.
