North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Cecila Monique Love, 35, of 2713 Westview St., Gastonia. Love was charged with felony insurance fraud.
Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Love of submitting fictitious invoices from Caromont Regional Hospital in the amount of $13,549 to State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co.
The offense occurred on Oct. 4, 2023.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced that Gaston County resident Christopher Mark Rogers, 51, of 5110 Chapman Point, Dallas, has been charged with insurance fraud, a felony.
According to a criminal summons, Rogers, the owner of an Iredell County body shop, failed to use new parts to repair a vehicle when he had been paid by National General Insurance Co. to use new parts in the repair.
The offense occurred on May 31, 2023.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Shinese Rayshawn Cox, 31, of 865 Kingold Blvd., Snow Hill. Cox was charged with obtaining property by false pretense, attempting to obtain property by false pretense and two counts of insurance fraud, all felonies.
Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations division accuse Cox of filing fraudulent claims for windshield and hood damage from winds with multiple insurance companies including Progressive Premier, Liberty Mutual and Safeco insurance companies.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced today the arrest of Azenia Kulah Somah, 43, of 4040 Brayden Drive, High Point, NC. Somah was served with a summons of one count of insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, both felonies, on March 4.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced today the arrest of Sherrod Suggs, 58, of 710 Joyner Drive, Kinston, NC. Suggs was charged with one count of insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, both felonies.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced today the arrest of Joseph Randolph Freeman III, 31, of 16 Ruby Lane, Corapeake, NC. Freeman was charged with one count of insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, both felonies. The Gates County Sheriff’s office also charged Freeman with filing a false police report, a misdemeanor.
North Carolina Department of Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey will present the Commissioner’s Award to Guilford County EMT Elle Green during a special presentation on Friday, March 15.
The award will be presented during the Guilford County Emergency Services Award Dinner, scheduled for 6 p.m.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey will offer conferences across North Carolina to provide vital information regarding the need for flood insurance.
The 2024 conferences will be similar to ones offered in 2022 through WebEx and will, again, be free of charge to insurance agents, adjusters, real estate agents, engineers, architects, land surveyors and the public.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey has continued the hearing for the insurance industry’s proposed statewide average 50.6% dwelling insurance rate increase to July 22. The hearing had been scheduled for Monday, April 8.
The hearing will begin at 10 a.m. in the N.C. Department of Insurance’s Hearing Room located on the 2nd Floor, 3200 Beechleaf Court, Raleigh.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced today the arrest of William Timothy Alston, 63, of 407 Republican Rd., Windsor, for multiple counts of insurance fraud, obtaining property by false pretense, forgery, and uttering a forged endorsement. All four are felonies.
