North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced that Michael Arcangel has been selected as the new chief captive analyst of the Captive Insurance Company Division.
Arcangel, who has an Associate in Captive Insurance designation, has been at the Department of Insurance for more than six years, most recently serving as supervising financial analyst for the division.

“We all have an important role to play in keeping our children safe,” said Commissioner Causey. “Drivers need to be on the lookout for crowded crosswalks and school buses on the road and parents need to talk to their children about the importance of traveling to school safely. It only takes one mistake to cause a tragic injury or death to a child.”
The North Carolina Department of Insurance received a dwelling insurance rate filing from the North Carolina Rate Bureau on Thursday, Aug.18. The Rate Bureau is seeking a statewide average increase of 42.6%, requesting 19.6% effective April 1, 2023, and a 19.2% increase effective April 1, 2024.
As warm temperatures continue to soar across North Carolina this summer, Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey will host a demonstration to remind families of the dangers of leaving children and pets inside cars.
“It only takes a matter of minutes for temperatures inside your car to reach dangerously high levels,” said Commissioner Causey. “One child’s death is one too many. I’m asking all families to ‘Look Before You Lock’ and make sure you never leave a child or pet in a hot car by accident.”
