North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced today the arrest of Tammy Robbins Cox, 53, of 2073 Horne Town Road, Polkton, NC. Cox was charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense.

According to special agents with the NC Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division, Cox presented oral and written statements to Progressive Premier Insurance Company of Illinois to obtain additional coverage on a vehicle that had already been in an accident. 

According to the arrest warrant, the offense occurred on March 9.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced today the arrests of Jason William Doss, 45, and Heather Vogler Doss, 35, of 2567 Volunteer Road, Pinnacle, NC. Each is charged with one count of insurance fraud and one count of obtaining property by false pretense, both felonies. Jason Doss was additionally charged with possession of illegal drugs, a felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced today the arrest of Quincy Quaime Duff, 32, of 790 Maxton Bass Road, Newton Grove, NC. Duff was charged with issuing a false statement, attempting to obtain property by false pretense and common law forgery. All are felonies.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced today the arrest of Whitley Danielson Owensby, 28, of 2473 Paint Fork Road, Mars Hill, NC. Owensby was charged with one count of common law forgery and one count of obtaining property by false pretense, both felonies. 

According to special agents with the NC Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division, Owensby attempted to deposit a two-party check into his Bank of America Business Account in the amount of $40,296.19 without the consent of the second party named on the check, Debourg Logisitics. 

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Julius Darnell Kelly, 50, of Wilson, and Virginia Jones Maddox, 57, of 812 Belmont Ave. SW, Wilson. Kelly was charged with four counts of identity theft, two counts of insurance fraud, two counts of obtaining property by false pretense, one count of attempting to obtain property by false pretense, one count of forgery and two counts of title application fraud, all felonies. Maddox was charged with three counts of felony notary fraud. 

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Terrance Antoine Hunter, 40, of 13505 Bryton Gap Blvd., Huntersville, and Tracie Michelle Famber, 59, of 1220 Echo Glen Road, Charlotte. They were both charged with one count of embezzlement, a felony.

Special agents from the North Carolina Department of Insurance Criminal Investigations Division accuse Hunter and Famber, a contractor and adjuster, of embezzling homeowners’ premium payments in the amount of $20,662.95 from one client.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced today the arrest of Charles Earl Holden, 38, of 704 Maury St. Wilson. Holden was charged with insurance fraud, a felony.

According to special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division, Holden attempted to defraud Integon National by claiming that damages to his vehicle were caused by a collision with wildlife, when in fact the damages were related to a fatal hit and run that had previously occurred on Feb. 10, 2023.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced today the arrest of De’Arias Raequez Pitt, 25, of 615 Pine Drive, Roanoke Rapids, NC. Pitt is charged with one count of larceny of a motor vehicle and one count of obtaining property by false pretense, both felonies.

According to special agents with the NC Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division, Pitt presented falsified Navy Federal Credit Union loan documents to obtain a 2020 Dodge Charger, valued at $50,000, from another person.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced that a Currituck County fire department employee has been charged with embezzling more than $200,000 from the department.

Amanda Christine Lamb, 46, of 637 N. Sandy Hook Road, Shawboro, was charged with embezzlement of funds by a public officer. Lamb was employed by the fire department as an administrative assistant, not by the county government.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Cecila Monique Love, 35, of 2713 Westview St., Gastonia. Love was charged with felony insurance fraud.

Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Love of submitting fictitious invoices from Caromont Regional Hospital in the amount of $13,549 to State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co. 

The offense occurred on Oct. 4, 2023.
