North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced that Gaston County resident Christopher Mark Rogers, 51, of 5110 Chapman Point, Dallas, has been charged with insurance fraud, a felony.

According to a criminal summons, Rogers, the owner of an Iredell County body shop, failed to use new parts to repair a vehicle when he had been paid by National General Insurance Co. to use new parts in the repair.

The offense occurred on May 31, 2023.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Shinese Rayshawn Cox, 31, of 865 Kingold Blvd., Snow Hill. Cox was charged with obtaining property by false pretense, attempting to obtain property by false pretense and two counts of insurance fraud, all felonies. 

Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations division accuse Cox of filing fraudulent claims for windshield and hood damage from winds with multiple insurance companies including Progressive Premier, Liberty Mutual and Safeco insurance companies. 

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced today the arrest of Azenia Kulah Somah, 43, of 4040 Brayden Drive, High Point, NC. Somah was served with a summons of one count of insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, both felonies, on March 4.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced today the arrest of Sherrod Suggs, 58, of 710 Joyner Drive, Kinston, NC. Suggs was charged with one count of insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, both felonies. 

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced today the arrest of Joseph Randolph Freeman III, 31, of 16 Ruby Lane, Corapeake, NC. Freeman was charged with one count of insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, both felonies. The Gates County Sheriff’s office also charged Freeman with filing a false police report, a misdemeanor.  

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced today the arrest of William Timothy Alston, 63, of 407 Republican Rd., Windsor, for multiple counts of insurance fraud, obtaining property by false pretense, forgery, and uttering a forged endorsement. All four are felonies.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Rotrelle Lacorte Damon David, 32, of 808 Lake Drive, High Point. David was charged with one count of insurance fraud and one count of conspiracy to obtain property by false pretenses, both are felonies.

Special agents with the NC Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse David of falsifying a motor vehicle accident form submitted to Nationwide Insurance on July 1, 2023. David claimed his mother, Christina Malachi, was present in the vehicle, when in fact she was not. 

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest Clayton Elof Peterson, 44, of 1006 Gateway Ave., Wilkesboro. Peterson was charged with one count of insurance fraud and two counts of obtaining property by false pretenses, all felonies.

Special agents with the NC Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Peterson of falsifying a medical claim form, including the physician’s information and submitting it to American Health and Life Insurance Company. 

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Anthony Dashawn Hudson, 25, of 1884 Rebecca Kennedy Road, Rocky Point, N.C. Hudson was charged with the burning of personal property, insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense. All three charges are felonies.
