North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced that Bernard Graves, 57, of 4945 Daily Store Road, Burlington, was charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense.

Special Agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Graves of falsely stating that he lost $13,000 in wages over four weeks in an insurance claim with American Hallmark Insurance Co. of Texas.

The offenses occurred between June 19, 2019, and Aug. 29, 2019.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Amanda Antionette Bailey, 32, of 100 Hunt Club Lane, Raleigh. Bailey was charged with four counts each of identity theft, insurance fraud, and obtaining property by false pretense, all felonies.

Special Agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Bailey of using driver’s license information from four other people to obtain four auto insurance policies from Geico.

The offenses occurred between July 17, 2019, and Oct. 11, 2019.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Pavel Gurlov, 37, of 2408 River Oaks Drive, Waxhaw; he is charged with one count of felony obtaining property by false pretense.

The incident occurred in Mecklenburg County between Oct. 29, 2016, and Oct. 30, 2016.

Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Anthony Clayborne Perry, 45, of 311 South LaSalle St., Durham; he is charged with one count of acting as a bail bondsmen without being licensed.

Department of Insurance criminal investigators accuse Perry of conducting bail bond business without being licensed by the North Carolina Department of Insurance during June 2017.

Perry was arrested on Sept. 12 in Durham County with assistance from the Durham County Sheriff’s Deputies and was placed under a $2,000 bond.

Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the conviction of Bradley McMillian, of 11163 Rennert Road, Shannon; he was charged and convicted with 44 counts each of obtaining property by false pretense and embezzlement.

Department of Insurance criminal investigators accused McMillian of receiving $400,000 from consumers for mobile homes that were never delivered. Investigators alleged McMillian defrauded 44 victims in Robeson County and the surrounding area.

Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Kenneth Earl Craft, Jr., 47, of 1089 Edwards Fork Road, Scotland Neck; he is charged with two counts each of fraud and obtaining property by false pretense and an agent acting without a license.

Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of David Maylon Pickett, 59, of 205 Queen St., Grifton; he is charged with eleven counts of obtaining property by false pretense and nine counts each of embezzlement and exploitation of an elder.

Department of Insurance criminal investigators accuse Pickett of deceiving elder adults to obtain funds, assets and property. Investigators allege Pickett knowingly embezzled, misapplied and converted other individual’s property for his own use.

Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Eric Deandre Hall, 32, of 7011 Page St., Saratoga; he is charged with one count each of insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense.

Department of Insurance criminal investigators accuse Hall of fraudulently claiming he was injured in an automobile accident that occurred on April 4, 2017, to receive medical payment from United Services Automobile Association. Investigators allege Hall was not in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Brenda Spruill Rascoe, 44, of 202 West Saluda Hall Road, Ahoskie; she is charged with one count each of insurance fraud and obtaining property by false pretense.

Department of Insurance criminal investigators accuse Rascoe of fraudulently claiming her vehicle caught fire with Allstate Insurance Company and obtaining a rental car that cost $899.43. Investigators allege Rascoe intentionally set the fire.

Rascoe was arrested on June 13 in Hertford County and was placed under a $2,000 bond.

Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Archie Holmes, 72, and Laura Holmes 37, of 8220 Buffalo Road, Smithfield; each is charged with one count of insurance fraud.

Department of Insurance criminal investigators accuse Archie Holmes and Laura Holmes of stating fraudulent facts to Hartford Accident and Indemnity Company to support an automobile claim. Investigators allege Holmes and Holmes made statements containing false and misleading information during a recorded interview.
