Protecting Yourself and Others: Teen Driving

The North Carolina Department of Insurance offers a free classroom resource for educators teaching young drivers: Protecting Yourself and Others: Teen Driving.

Designed for high school classrooms and driver education programs, this interactive lesson introduces students to the fundamentals of automobile insurance and responsible driving preparation.

The resource helps students better understand:

  • What automobile insurance is
  • How automobile insurance works
  • Why automobile insurance is important
  • Factors that contribute to automobile insurance costs
  • Common automobile insurance terminology

Resources are provided upon request. If educators opt to facilitate the lesson, they will be provided a companion guide for their students.
