Renew Your Insurance Producer or Adjuster License

License Renewal

Insurance Producer Licenses do not renew and are valid until surrendered, canceled or revoked in respect to the following:  Life, Accident & Health or Sickness, Property, Casualty, Personal Lines, Medicare Supplement Long-Term Care, Variable Life and Variable Annuity Products.

Additionally, Variable Life and Variable Annuity Products also requires the prerequisite license Life license remains active; and Medicare Supplement Long-Term Care also requires the prerequisite license Accident & Health or Sickness remains active.

Resident Insurance Producer Requirements

To maintain a license ALL Resident Insurance Producers must comply with the continuing education requirements for the license(s) held.

Non-Resident Insurance Producer Requirements

North Carolina will recertify Non-Resident Producer licenses by reviewing their license status in their Home State. If a Non-Resident Insurance Producer's Home State license(s) are in good standing their North Carolina Non-Resident Insurance Producer license(s) will be extended.

Purchasing Groups

For both Initial and Renewal license applications for Purchasing Groups the required documentation, to include your name and NIPR transaction number, should be submitted for review directly to the NC Licensing Office of Pearson VUE by one of the below methods:

Limited Lines Travel Business Entity Register

 

Adjuster, Corporation, Hail Adjuster, Motor Vehicle Damage Appraiser, Partnership, Public Adjuster, Public Adjuster Business Entity, Self-Service Storage Limited License, Auto Rental Limited License, Limited LInes Travel Business, Portable Electronics Business Entity and Viatical Settlement Broker.

All April 1 renewals for Residents and Non-Residents are processed electronically through the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR). Licenses expire on March 31, but renewal applications are available to be paid in the annual renewal period of 60 days before this date and 60 days after this date (through May 30).

Individual Surplus Lines and Business Entity Surplus Lines 

All September 1 license renewals for Surplus Lines licenses for Residents and Non-Residents are processed electronically through the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR). Licenses expire on August 31, but renewal applications are available to be paid in the annual renewal period of July 2 through October 30.
