North Carolina Department of Insurance transitioned to a new version of SBS (State Based Systems) in 2021. At that time, all active Collection Agencies were assigned a new North Carolina Permit Number. For the 2023-2024 renewal license period, your license will reflect only the Permit Number assigned in 2021.
All North Carolina Collection Agencies were required to update their correspondence to debtors with the Permit Number assigned in 2021. A grace period for this update was provided until June 30, 2022. All documents submitted for the 2023-2024 renewal must have the Permit Number assigned in 2021. Any renewal documents received with the old Permit Numbers will cause a delay in renewal approvals.
