Collection Agency Licensing

North Carolina Department of Insurance transitioned to a new version of SBS (State Based Systems) in 2021.  At that time, all active Collection Agencies were assigned a new North Carolina Permit Number. For the 2024-2025 renewal license period, your license certificate will reflect only the new Permit Number assigned in 2021.

All North Carolina Collection Agencies must update their correspondence to debtors with the Permit Number assigned in 2021. Our office provided a grace period for the update. When the correspondence to debtors have been updated, the updated documents need to be submitted to our office for review.
