Multiple Employer Welfare Arrangement (MEWA)

N.C.G.S. § 58-50A-1 defines a Multiple Employer Welfare Arrangement (MEWA).  In North Carolina, the North Carolina Department of Insurance licenses MEWA.  The Life and Health Division reviews the initial application for approval, reviews the renewal application and regulates the MEWA ongoing.   The regulation of the licensed entity also involves several other Divisions.
