North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced that Samuel Dwayne Collins, 53, of 2725 Smethwick Lane, Gastonia, was charged with three counts of insurance fraud, two counts of attempting to obtain property by false pretense and one count of obtaining property by false pretense, all felonies.

According to criminal summonses, Collins presented altered physical therapy receipts and an altered doctor’s note to Integon General Insurance Corp. in an attempt to obtain payment on insurance claims.

The offenses occurred between April 15 and May 6.

On Aug. 22, Chasity Dawn Keeter, 37, of 1008 Ridgecrest Lane, Jacksonville, was sentenced to 84-149 months in prison after pleading guilty to five counts of second-degree arson, two counts of burning personal property and one count of animal cruelty for her involvement in six Onslow County fires. All counts are felonies.

Bailey is charged with three counts of insurance fraud, two counts of obtaining property by false pretense and one count of attempting to obtain property by false pretense. All six charges are felonies.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Michael Gerard Renna, 50, of 258 Chatsworth Lane, Clayton. Renna was charged with 26 counts of insurance fraud, 18 counts of obtaining property by false pretense and 10 counts of attempting to obtain property by false pretense, all felonies.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced the arrest of Dylan Scott Smith, 23, of 204 New Orleans Blvd., Morganton. Smith is charged with one count of insurance fraud and two counts of obtaining property by false pretense. All three charges are felonies.

Brandon Allen Dorsett, 37, of Denton was charged with misusing government computers and two counts of fraud, all felonies.

Davidson County deputies arrested Dorsett on July 11. He was released on $10,000 unsecured bond. He is scheduled to appear in Davidson County District Court on Aug. 4

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced the arrest of Nichloas McArthur Bennett, 43, of 419 Beasley Dr., Greenville, on Aug. 16, 2024. At the time, Bennett was charged in Pitt County with two counts of identity theft and one count of obtaining property by false pretense.
